The Waves Studio is built for warmth and comfort, with double glazing throughout and a small wood
burner to provide additional heating on wintry days . The open plan layout of the spacious main
living area allows guests to enjoy each others company without feeling on top of one another.
Creative Space
Create mouth watering dishes from local fare in the well-appointed kitchen area, and serve it at
the six seater dining table, or chill out with a DVD and a glass of wine in the lounge area.

stereo, wood burner, telephone (for local calls), Internet broadband access available, fridge/freezer, electric oven, gas cook top, microwave,

Outdoor Living
Large, double-glazed sliders open from the living area and both bedrooms onto a wide timber deck
with panoramic views along Nine Mile Beach to Cape Foulwind. There is also a sheltered rear deck
with a BBQ area for when the wind is blowing in from the sea. Guests can sit out of the wind and
while away the hours gazing at the ever-changing seascape or listen to the tranquil sounds of the
bush and sea.
Venture further
We have two mountain bikes for guests to use to explore Charleston. (Bike pump and helmets
supplied!) The beach is a about a 20 minute walk from the house but for safe swimming the Nile River Lagoon is closer, about 10 minutes. There are many bush walks, local tours and activities on offer in the area and
Westport and Punakaiki are only 20 minutes drive away. The historic Denniston Plateau is just a
short journey north of Westport and is the setting for Jenny Patrick's bestselling historic novels
'Denniston Rose' and 'Heart of Coal'.
Prepare a picnic for a visit to the magnificent Oparara Valley with its Limestone Arches and
Honeycomb Caves at Karamea, about 1.5hrs drive from the house which makes an excellent day trip.
Or check out the stunning scenery at the Mokihinui River area 40 minutes north of Westport and have
lunch at the Seddonville pub, near the Chasm Creek Walkway. The Buller area has an intriguing
history with many 'ghost' towns left after the 'gold rush' days.
There are so many possibilities! Our compendium in the house gives some more details of nearby activities and places of interest.
Please be aware that there is no walking track directly from the house to Nine Mile Beach. If you were to walk along the road to the beach that you can see from the house, it would take approximately 20 minutes, but is only a few minutes drive.
